Deandra Christianson received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and then continued on to receive her Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. While in her Master’s program she earned a Counseling Specialization and focused on treatment of children and adolescents. She is currently completing her PhD in Organizational Leadership at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology.

Deandra has been with Center for Discovery in many capacities, both clinical and administrative, since 2013. She has been afforded many opportunities to speak at conferences and other engagements throughout the country. Deandra has worked with people with eating disorders, self-injurious behaviors, mood disorders, and other co-occurring issues in both residential and outpatient treatment settings. Additionally, she has worked with schools in program development and implementation that focuses on student leadership and bullying prevention and intervention. Deandra is passionate about her work, as well as, eating disorder awareness, advocacy, and treatment.

Jamie Atkins RD, CEDRD, is the Director of Dietary Services for the Adult RTC at Center for Discovery. She has a passion for helping people meet their nutritional needs without losing sight of the social and emotional value of food. With a non-judgmental approach, Jamie helps people create a healthy relationship among food, mind, & body. She believes in helping her clients to find their own path, thus allowing them to take ownership of their recovery, and at times does so utilizing a DBT informed approach she developed for Dietitians. She has worked in the field for over a decade, and has experience working in all levels of care; hospitalization, residential treatment, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and outpatient.

Jamie is a Licensed Body Positive Facilitator and is an advocate for putting an end to weight stigma while spreading the message of size acceptance through speaking publicly on the topic across the country. She has also spoken on various other topics related to eating disorders at the national and international level. She is active in the community, both by raising eating disorder and weight stigma awareness and being on the board of the Los Angeles Chapter of the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (iaedp) serving as the Social Media Chair, and Association of Size Diversity and Health serving as a Member At Large. Jamie believes the most important step in helping a client on the path to recovery is meeting them where they are, and helping them to build a recovery they can see for themselves, bringing together mind, body, and soul.

Program Director

Alanna Betts is the Program Director at the Center for Discovery Alexandria.  Alanna is an art therapist and psychotherapist who earned her masters degree in Art Therapy and Mental Health Counseling from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Alanna’s previous clinical experience includes work at the inpatient, partial hospitalization, and outpatient levels of care in general psychiatric treatment, trauma recovery, and eating disorders. Alanna uses a person centered approach to counseling that encourages the development of self-expression, emotional self-efficacy, and a strong sense of identity as clients engage in the recovery process.

Tatiana Menick, MD

Tatiana Menick, MD

Psychiatrist

A Board-certified psychiatrist, Tatiana Menick, M.D. completed her four-year residency training in psychiatry in the St Elizabeths Hospital Psychiatry Residency Program, Washington, DC,

Dr. Menick has more than ten years’ experience conducting pharmacotherapy and individual and group psychotherapy in community mental health clinics.

She provides psychiatric consultation for Center for Discovery Virginia and also maintains a thriving private practice. She is the first author of multiple articles appearing in the International Journal of Child Health and Human Development and Environment, Mood Disorders and Suicide and other books.

Facility Manager

Jenna McQuillen earned her undergraduate degree from the University of South Carolina with a degree in Health Promotion and a minor in Psychology. While obtaining her undergraduate degree, she became involved in an organization called Heroes on Horseback, which provided Equine therapy for children with various disabilities.

After completing her undergraduate degree, Jenna completed an internship with Low Country therapy center, assisting the therapist with sessions with adolescents ages 5-18 years old. After moving to Maryland, she obtained experience as a Case Manager for adults with various mental illnesses, linking them to various resources in the community.

Jenna is currently the Facility Manager for Center for Discovery and is very passionate about promoting a healthy life mentally and physically.

Dr. Jay Joglekar

Dr. Jay Joglekar

Physician

Dr. Joglekar earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland in Software Engineering and began his graduate work in Software Engineering at Johns Hopkins University. After medical school, Dr. Joglekar developed an electronic medical record at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD while conducting a Phase II clinical trial on advanced head and neck cancers.

Dr. Joglekar is Board Certified in Internal Medicine (American Board of Internal Medicine) and completed his residency at HCMC in Minneapolis, MN (University of Minnesota).

Dr. Joglekar believes that a healthy lifestyle, strong mental health and preventive approach lead to the promotion of wellness.
